Arbaniés town"

Peace and calm
in the Hole of Huesca

Place of the province of Huesca, belonging to the municipality of Siétamo. Inhabitants: 67. Altitud:.591 meters on the sea level. It is distant from Huesca 17 kilometers and the gentile is arbaniesano.
It leaves of the Valley of Huesca to face Somontano ("Under-mountains"). It can be arrived by highways. The first option is to take the deviation to Loporzano no more passing "Estrecho Quinto" in N-240 with Loporzano to the left, we continue some more quilometres until the first deviation to the left. A narrow and serpentine highway will bring near us to Arbaniés.
Another option is for Siétamo, natural cradle of the Count of Aranda, alive history of our earth. The secondary recently enlarged highway, to the left, goes into in North address, toward the mountain summits that crest to the bottom. First Castejón will arrive, later Arbaniés that will give it its last name. The total journey, from Huesca, is alone of 17 kilometers.
It offers the town withits irregular layout and tapial buildings, reinforced not very well with ashlar stone worked. The earth still offers yield being this the cause that a part of the emigration was contained during some time, but already enough years ago the population descended below the a hundred inhabitants, number that was considered demographic limit, indicator of risk so that the town maintains more alive its identity.
The cross of term, of the XVIIIth century, seems to be fixed there to give the welcome to the visitor. The town, later, will show its irregular urban center, because the streets were traced as marked the conveniences of the land. Then, a wide and beautiful square, where the big party has its protagonism. As complement, other small squares, where the gatherings cheer up when falling of the afternoon, especially in Summer. The holidays are celebrated on August 15, for the Virgin.
The primitive church was of romanesque origin, of the XII century, and consisted of a single ship of three tracts covered with vault of pointed canyon and semicircuIar apse.

Later on, in the XVI century, it suffered the corresponding transformation to enlarge it to three ships. From the same time is the bell tower that ascends slender, with the help of three bodies, the last two are octogonals.
It is understood that the XVI century was of splendor for the town, as they would be the following centuries. The decline began in the second half of the last XX century. However, there is not fear to the future because scarcely to 17 kilometers of the capital is possible the life.
There is a nearby chapel, that of San Silvestre. It was raised, as they tell, about the XVIII th century, and was dropped by abandonment. It is the destination of the chapels, as soon as they do not receive the necessary care: they end up by dying of isolation and solitude.
Now, the Arbaniés neighbors wait every year In August for meeting all, families and friends, which continue there and those who went away, that return for the festivities. From holidays to holidays the promises are renewed. The future, according to those of the people, continues being in the ground, waiting for some hand that can gain it.
