Huesca: the romanian roads

 

     The traditionally Roman process that employed the army, existed with precedence and the Romans made solely their appropriateness, turnning in territorial ranking shafts. It is known the route Ilerda - Osca - Cesaraugusta, that from Lérida coincides quite with the national highway. Near Almacellas, it takes address to Esplús, penetrating in Aragon by Valbona; after crossing the highway Binéfar-Ripoll (about Monzón), it is arrived to the Cerro de la Alegría, in which is found the mansion of Tolous; from there was departing other traced to Pompaleón.
     They are found remains milliarios or stone-paved in: Valcarca, Selgua, Berbegal, Laperdiguera and Pertusa until arriving to Bellestar. For each bridges, are crossed, Flumen and Isuela rivers to enter Osca by the Lanuza or San Lorenzo streets (according to other hypothesis). What is certain is that both streets form right angle with vertex in San Pedro Cathedral.
     The section until Cesaraugusta is worse preserved since coincides with the national highway. There are any mansions: `Bourtiná (Almudévar) and `Gallicum, (between Zuera and San Mateo de Gállego). Here was coinciding furthermore the route from Cesaraugusta to the Pyrene. The toponymy of Hospital of the Violated (Via Lata) can have relationship to some construction in this route. Next to Osca, they abound the numeral toponymy cited in so many occasions: Tierz, Cuarte, Siétamo, Estrecho Quinto, Nueno, etc.,
